He cites the UK lowering its alcohol recommendation. Problem: the UK drinks more. In fact, the US seems to be the lowest drinking country in the industrialized world, with the highest number of abstainers and the highest number of light/occasional drinkers. So … I see no evidence that lowering recommendations in a drinking country matters, and think that rather than being a sign of ‘good’ choices, it actually reflects a larger problem.
